Severe right jaw pain where it connects to ear, chills, scratchy throat...Please help :(?
I started having a scratchy throat and feeling worn out yesterday, and today my throat has that irritated, scratchy feeling that hurts a little and makes you want to cough. To make things worse, my jaw(especially where the jaw connects to the ear) is KILLING me. The pain is the worse on the right side, so bad that I can't sleep. It is also giving me a headache.
I'm pretty sure this is some virus because I can't get warm and I'm achy all over. What can I do for the jaw pain? I can handle everything else but the jaw pain is just too much!
the jaw is also stiff-like and it hurts to open my mouth...i'm guessing there's some inflammation going on.

For now, hold a hot, moist compress against the right jaw, because it's the more painful side. If you have an Benadryl in the house, you can safely take up to 100mg as a sleep aid. Because it seems the pain is severe, I think you should have your take a look at your throat and tonsils. If you stress the pain, you may be worked into the schedule the same day you call. I sure hope your doctor has Saturday hours but, if not, find an Urgent Care clinic.

Alternate warm and cold compresses on the sore spot to relieve the pain. Increase the humidity in your environment with a hot or cold water humidifier if you have one (I prefer hot, they are more sanitary). Add some salt to a little lukewarm water and gargle with it to reduce bacteria in your throat.
There are several things that can cause what you have. Most common and most likely is the common cold. There are several other minor, respiratory viruses that can do it too. However, if it doesn't resolve in a week, you should probably see a doctor. Strep throat has similar symptoms and sinusitis too. Either of these will require antibiotics to clear. They are a long-shot though.

Take Excedrin Migranine. Works like a charm. Also I suggest he see your family doctor and then dentist. He could have an inner ear infection pain can radiate to teeth and jaw or he could have a tooth infection pain can radiate to ear. Have him rest his head on a heating pad also.
