If I turn off Photo Stream, can I get the pictures back?

If I turn off Photo Stream on an iPhone, which therefor deletes all Photo Stream pictures from the phone, can I get them back by turning it back on? Thanks!

    I don't have an iPhone but I see you already know that all pics are deleted when you turn Photo Stream off. I would think that all photos are ...well...deleted. Delete means 'gone'....'not there any more.' If you just 'move' something that's different but 'delete' means 'delete.' Can you 'send' them to an email address or download them to a flash drive somehow?
