what is a good costume for a costume contest?

I like the wet paint option you suggested. Especially if he's a flashy paint. Hose him down so he's pretty wet (as long as the weather allows) before you show him, maybe a loose hose around his neck (obviously in a safe manner), and a great big wet paint sign stuck to the side of him. Wear a rain slicker,rubber boots and an umbrella.

I like anything with a play on words. You'll definitely get points for creativity.

I always like the ones where they put pants on the horses front legs and make him human. Then there is the wolley Mamouth caveman costume. You can take cardboard and make a robot/transformer costume.

It all depends on how much time you want to spend de-sensitizing the horse.

Something that would be cute for a paint gelding would be something along the lines of an Indian theme. Put a feather in his main, braid his tail and/or his main and put your hair in a braid and ride his bareback with a western halter. You could wear tan pants, with a tanish brown shirt with a feather in your hair as well.

And to have some fun with your horse, you could pain on him lol. Put like a hand print, heart, circles, arrows or something on his hip, but, shoulder, neck, or face and have fun with the colors of them to!

You can be some one from hestoric time or a painting you can paint your clothes and skin into some famous painting I saw someone's do it and I was so cool
