I got some silk flowers at a craft store.?

They are bundled together at the bottom with the same coating that is on the stems. I want to separate them and make a bouquet of several different flowers. What is the best way to remove that coating; or is it even possible? I want to keep the length of the stems if possible, so I really do not want to cut them if I do not have to.

Update:

The coating is not paper; it's more like plastic. It's like the manufacturer held the flowers together and dipped them in a liquid and let it dry.

The paper like binding itself should be easy to cut apart, without you having to reduce the length of the flowers or damage the coating ont he flowers. I use a small pair of sharp scissors to slice through that binding and neaten it off on each flower.
