Monthly salt loss in reef tank?
Never done a salt water tank before, but I feel very confident at this point after much research. I'm a truck driver though, so I'm out on the road for about a month. I've taken care of the water loss problem with ATO RO/DI. I'll be having someone do regular feedings for me. The one thing I'm curious about is the PPM saline level. I'll just be doing a 29 gallon tank with a 20 gallon refugium. So would a monthly water change with a refractometer salt check be too long?
How much salt do you guys typically lose in a month's time? How much salt do you have to add typically?

Should actually be OK from the salt point of view. Salt can't leave or enter the tank, except by human intervention. Of course no system is perfect, so it can gradually "drift" as a little salt comes out on your hands and gravel vac, or a little salt goes in with fish food etc. But those are tiny amounts
More of a concern will be monthly water changes. But if the tank is only lightly stocked this is probably still going to be OK. Nitrate build up leading to excess algae growth is probably going to happen before the salt level goes out of whack too much. But less fish means less waste and less problems.
