Requirements for SWAT team career?
I am 17 in high school, I don't want to go to college because I am not good at reading and I drift off. This does not mean I'm stupid I have a 4.3 GPA and I am athletic and am a good at math and writing, just a horrible reader. would the SWAT team require a bachelor degree, or will they just need me to go through police academy, then take a SWAT basics coarse, kind of like how the military does it? or is it out of random and if you don't get picked you just become a police officer or can you try again? I read somewhere that you need 3 yrs of work as a cop, to even be considered? is this true, because I don't want to waist 3 yrs pursuing a dream just like a kid wants to become a professional football player. I am a hard worker and I will earn my way in I just don't want it to be like a 20% chance of making the squad after 3 yrs of work. I am looking for advise from police officers, SWAT members, or even someone who is VERY familiar with this topic. Thank you!

If you want to become a SWAT officer for a police department, you must first become a police officer. Requirements to become a police officer vary and how you become a police officer varies depending on the police department. Visit the websites of the police departments that you might be interested in working for. Police department websites often provide information about their applicant requirements, about how to apply, and about their hiring process. Some relatively common minimum requirements include having at least a high school diploma or ged, being a citizen, being at least 21 years old, having a valid driver's license, and having no felony convictions. Some relatively common steps in hiring processes include application, written test, physical fitness test, interview, drug test, medical examination, and background investigation. As far as education goes, some police departments require applicants to have college, and some don't. Some do, but most departments don't require applicants to have a 4 year degree. Getting law enforcement officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, practice to improve your observation and memory skills, and become as physically fit as you can. If you want to become a SWAT officer, try to get hired with a department that has SWAT officers. Requirements to become a SWAT officer depend on the department. Become the best police officer that you can. Maintain an excellent record and reputation as an officer. Become as proficient as you can with all of your issued or department weapons.

First you need to got through basic FBI Academy training, that is required for a regular Special Agent. Then you work for a while at a FBI field office that they post you at. Could be a small country in a state to a big city like Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas. Afterward you check is there opening to train to be in FBI HRT, while you are working as a regular special agent. You need to read the book Cold Zero; Inside the FBI Hostage Rescue Team by Christopher WHITCOMB(a former FBI HRT member) He started his career as a Senator's speech writer, when Regan was President, before deciding to join the FBI. It all in his book.
