Dark Souls help- Smough and Orenstein are incredibly difficult for me? No Live, so no updates or Summoning?
I am having a lot of trouble defeating Smough and Orenstein on Dark Souls for xbox 360. I am currently level 45, with 24 strength and 20 dexterity. My current best weapons would probably be my Lightning Zweihander and Fire Uchigatana +5, I also have Qualag's Fury Blade, though I only have 3 Demon Titanite and cannot get any more that I know of. I use Havel's Armor (with Ring of Favor and Protection as well as Havel's Ring) and the Eagle Shield as it is the only greatshield I can wield. I typically run past the giant sentinels as they are just a huge pain in the rear, but I can take them down if I have to. Any recommendations would be helpful. I was considering going after the Hydra for the purpose of freeing Dusk to gain access to Tomb of the Giants. Thanks in advance.

Are you light, medium, or heavy weight? If your light you dodge most their attacks [Although watch for Smough's Hammer charge] If you are medium then you need a good shield, The eagle can be pretty good when upgraded. Fire is indeed the choice for these two and Queelags Furysword can be epic when upgraded and should be better then the uchi. Whatever ya do DONT use the zweihander on them because its lighting, Yeah itll take Smough down but Ornstein is highly resistant to lighting. So roll if you are good at it and block when you cant roll. Also freeing Dusk from the golden golem wont gain you access to The Tomb Of The Giants but it will let you buy spells from her afterwards she will put her sign near the lake if you do free her. Good luck!

They're weak against fire weapons, so try to use a weapon that does fire damage. Plus you can summon an NPC. His sign is located on the opposite stairwell in the big room before the boss room, you need to be human in order to see the sign. Also, they tend to do lightning damage, so try use a shield that has good lightning protection.
If all else fails, then just level up!
