It fairly is dependent upon the software. As a normal rule, Java programs will run on any platform as long as that platform has the Java Runtime environment (JRE) established (and for Macs, Java is set up as a part of the OS and is included in software updates, so that just isn't a drawback. Nevertheless, there are a pick few number of approaches in awt and swing which are quite platform-based, such because the JFrame requestFocus() process. All-in-all, you must be exceptional (instead of some visual things that in accordance to some Mac customers doesn't "feel" correct, such as the menu being within the window alternatively than being up on the menu bar up high; these matters do not influence functionality at all).

Hey, what are you asking about? There is more to it than just "on Mac".

For OS 10.7.x, open Java Preferences.app. you will find it at /Applications/Utilities.

For OS 10.8.x, see the link below.

In general, any activity that needs Java and detects you don't have Java will pop open an installer for you automatically. From time to time, Apple may disable your Java, since Oracle is very lax in keeping it secure. The off-Java time could be two days or two weeks or two months---it's up to Oracle to fix it.

If you do not have Java installed get it here...

    http://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?l...

If you have it installed check that it is activated...

Safari > Preferences > Security > Enable Java
