Can I buy my parents council house in MY NAME ONLY?

I am living with my parents in a council property to which I/we have "right to buy" as my name is also on the tenancy.

Can I solely apply for right to buy?

Or does my parents name need to be on the Mortgage Application as part of the "Right to Buy" ?

The reason for me wanting to buy in my name only is for the mortgage situation as my parents name on the application would mean I can only get 15 year mortgage.

Thanks in advance

You need to ask the council. I think it will depend how long you have been on the tenancy agreement. I think 5 years

If you are not the main tenant it may be difficult, ring the council and ask for their advice, if you could buy you possibly wouldnt have the right to evict your parents though.
