  • Can I buy my parents council house in MY NAME ONLY?

I am living with my parents in a council property to which I/we have "right to buy" as my name is also on the tenancy.

Can I solely apply for right to buy?

Or does my parents name need to be on the Mortgage Application as part of the "Right to Buy" ?

The reason for me wanting to buy in my name only is for the mortgage situation as my parents name on the application would mean I can only get 15 year mortgage.

    Thanks in advance

  • what are the risks of using foriegn savings account?

I have noticed that banks outside of Europe offer very high interest rates of fixed deposits in savings accounts - why would that be a risk?

I thinking in terms of inflation, devaluation, and political instabilities.

  • What are the dangers of using a foreign banks savings account?

There are countries outside of Europe who all offer incredibly high interest rate returns on your deposits. Although some economies are unstable, and therefore very risky, there are other stable countries who offer very good rates on you deposits, and in many cases Tax Free returns.

As British citizen or European, why would you not use a foreign savings account?

I've had the unfortunate situation where I've accumulated points on my UK license. How many years before they can be removed from my license?

Will 3 points issued for 1 offense, take the same number years for removal as 4 points issued for 1 offense?

  • American Express Green Charge Card "Limit" UK?

Only just got my first AmEx Charge Card. How can I determine the "limit" on the supposedly "no pre-determined" limit charge card to avoid getting embarrassed at the tills? I believe there is a tool on the american website, apparently, to check the amount you can spend, but is that tool available on the UK website?

Also how can I increase the "exposure" or "limit" on the no limit AmEx Charge Card ?

  • Are Duty Free areas genuinely cheaper?

Has anyone bought things significantly cheaper at airports? I want to buy a Rolex and thinking of going to Dubai. Would it be worth my while?

I have noticed that the duty free shopping is not always cheaper than the high street or shopping mall. Take for instance, I was eyeing up some Raybans (no pun intended) and thought id buy them at the Airport - but guess what they were MORE expensive than Selfridges (the department store) and most of the Duty Free shades were technically a different serial number so they legitimise the high price in the tax free areas.

Other countries simply up the price, and so offset the tax.

  • Rolex Discounts - Possible?

Has anyone managed to get a discount on a Rolex GMT II Master Steel, they dont seem to budge on price here in England?

I am planning to buy Rolex in Dubai since its tax free. Would Dubai Mall or Airport be the best place for better Rolex price and do they negotiate ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Can you pay a mortgage deposit using a credit card?

I was thinking whether I could arrange a mortgage on a house and pay the deposit using my credit card, in England. Indeed, in theory, I should be able to make a full purchase of a house on a credit card (if my card limit allows).

Similarly, it is possible to purchase an expensive car on finance and pay the deposit using a credit card - why should the same principle not be applied to the purchase of a house?

I would welcome any explanations. Thank you.

  • Why do I get very excited when I see a beautiful woman?

I'm not talking of being aroused, but I feel almost obsessed about beautiful woman. Its like I see a gorgeous woman walking past, ( or on tv) and instantly ill feel excited and she'll grab my entire focus for that that moment, its like I'm at her mercy almost, even though she's a complete stranger. I mean, obviously, I don't act up my instincts, I simply just walk past, and after a while (yes she stays in my mind for a bit) I carry on as normal.

Despite all my emotions remaining discreet,

Is this normal for a man in his late 20s?

  • Why is a prisoner released after serving half his sentence?

Shouldn't 1 year mean 1 year? For example if someone is sentenced to 8 years, they will be released after 4 years(?). Likewise, if a 6 year sentence is issued, the s/he will be released after 3 (?).

Why does this happen in England?

  • VC5; Registered Keeper, Main Driver, Policy Holder (Insurance) & Owner?

What is the difference between all these positions and how are they linked (in England)?

I want to buy a car and only I will drive it, mostly at weekends (sometimes weekdays), but I will park it in my mums rented garage. However the car has to be "in her name" (what ever that means) enabling her to rent the garage. But she does not drive.

Would my mother's status as "Registered Keeper" (if that is possible without a license) be sufficient for me to park my car at her garage overnight?

For Tax and MOT whom will they contact? With whom will the INSURANCE communicate with? Who's name will be entitled to No Claims Bonus? And who is actually the "Owner" in this instance?

(My head is spinning lol) Thanks

  • Registered Keeper and Named Driver, Owner of Car?

What is the difference between the three, and which one of the three must be insured?

If the named driver is NOT the registered keeper, who will the insurance communicate with? Does no claims bonus accrue (for whom)?

PS any suggestions should address Laws of England, UK.

    Thanks
