Do I need to be a Qualified Pharmacist to start my own Pharmacy business?
I am thinking of starting my own business and opening up an independent pharmacy, but I am not a qualified pharmacist myself.
Is this possible in the England?
I should add, my wife and other family members are indeed Qualified Pharmacists, but I am actually the one who wishes to venture into this business, knowingly that I have the necessary qualified people to "employ" or bring to the business.
PS. I haven't discussed it with them yet as they not too keen on going it alone.

No but you will need to have a qualified registered Pharmacist and maybe also a pharmacy techician right from square one, which is expensive. You will also need to do considerable research regarding the regulations covering the purchase, storage and dispensing of prescription drugs and particularly controlled ones. This is not like starting up a local convenience store! Personally i am doubtful whether it is viable for a non Pharmacist to start up a Pharmacy from scratch nowadays.

You could certainly own the business, but you'd need to hire a qualified pharmacist to do the actual work.

So how do you think you would be able to buy drugs with no qualified Pharmacist employed. Think about it. You would have to go through many checks with the UK Government before you would be allowed to trade.
