should I start giving my 7 month old formula in a sippy cup?

His doctor said to start using a sippy cup more to break him of the bottle easier. Should I start giving him his formula in a sippy? Thanks

Offer him the sippy with water or formula, but don't worry about making a rapid switch. There's no need to at his age. What I'd suggest is getting one of those transition sippy cups with handles and a soft spout that baby can experiment with, and give it to him when he might be interested in a drink but isn't super hungry. He'll be more cooperative in trying something new when he's not starving. If he takes to it right away, great! If not, that's okay, just keep letting him experiment with it. Another thing you can try to encourage him to switch is starting off with a bottle, the switching to the sippy partway through the feeding.

I would offer water in the sippy cup. Babies of 7 months still have a strong need to suck, and will not be able to get enough formula through a sippy cup. Remember, until a years, breastmilk or formula should make up the bulk of the baby's nutrition, and many babies continue to use bottles a few times a day past the age of a year.

Why? What medical reason did the doctor give you to 'break' your 7 month old son off the bottle?

Remember, breastfeeding is recommended for the first 1-2 years. Bottles are a substitute for breastfeeding. So as long as a breastfed baby would be on the breast, it's okay and even a need for your baby to get his formula in a bottle.

Use a sippy cup for other liquids, preferably water.

each toddler is diverse and if he's greater comfortable eating from sippy cups then permit him i did that for my daughter additionally at an exceptionally youthful age. It doesnt rely if he beverages formulation from a bottle or a sippy cup at 7 mos previous as long as he beverages it. and you're fortunate with the aid of fact a great variety of father and mom have issues getting their young ones off of the bottles.

i gave my son until the day after his one year to take his bottle away so he didnt resent his sippy cup. make sure when you take his bottle away to fully take it away. he will throw fits and not want his sippy cup at first but as long as you stand tough he will adjust to it just fine as long as you keep the bottles put up and dont let him see them. also dont occasionally let him have his bottle back as this will make it a lot harder to get him to use the sippy.

Won't hurt him physically any to give him one, so why not?
