What are some good sources for classic Jeep parts and history?

I only live about 40 miles from the home of Jeep so it's amazing that I have never had one until now.

My elderly neighbor passed away last year and since he new I appreciate and restore old GM trucks, he left me his 1976 Jeep Cherokee Chief in his will-I don't think he ever knew I had been wanting it since we bought our place in 1989 lol!

It's actually in very good shape. He ordered it brand new the day after he retired from the OLD Toledo Jeep plant and only put just under 70k miles on it. It has the 401 c.i.d. engine, 4 speed manual and seems to be pretty highly optioned. It hasn't seen any hard off road driving-he only used it for fishing and hunting-but there is some normal wear and tear that I'd like to fix. The body is very solid with only minor rust and no holes, even underneath-I've been all over it looking for rot.

Where can I find reliable information and quality replacement parts for this great classic Jeep?

The best place you can find parts for any Full Size Jeep or SJ's as they are known, and my favorite Jeeps. I own 7 different SJ's. I also own 2 Cherokee's myself. One is a 1973 Cherokee Chief S and the other is a 1975 Cherokee Chief.

Any way the best place to get parts is from a place in Gig Harbor Washington. Known as BJ's Off Road. I have bought from other companies off line and no other company knows what you are talking about. I have bought from Wagon Masters and Grand Wagoneers.com and they sell parts and that is all. They are not as familiar with the full size Jeep platform as BJ's, I have never had a bad item from their company. They are always updating their inventory with new and improved items. Such as LED taillights, LED dash components. There still some parts that are not available yet, but new parts are always coming out. Also you will be surprised that some parts for the FSJ's are still available from Chrysler. The website you need is as follows: www.bjsoffroad.com

Also, since you now have full size Jeep, you must now learn to use the correct Jeep Wave for a FSJ. Hope to see you on the wrong or off!!!!

Source(s): Owner of many Jeeps. Love them all and am always in need of just one more. Very proud of the CJ10 I just aquried. "My CJ is your Wrangler's Daddy" My JEEP is not an SUV...Your SUV is not a JEEP! www.bjsoffroad.com

Collins Brothers Jeep would be worth a try or perhaps even better is a place called Wagon Master i believe. They deal in full size Jeeps only.

Google it and see what comes up,Hope this helps

do not think of they made a 39. besides, i'm guessing it rather is a WWII jeep. Ebay could in all probability be your ultimate wager. you will could desire to shop a beware for what you opt for. i think of most of the early jeeps had a 4 cylinder in them.
