Change in this generation of children?

I dont understand these new generation children. Young 6 year olds used to be entertained easily like with funny noises or so. But nowadays if you try to amuse them like that they say "seriously, dude?" as if they're already teens. Well, im just wondering what happened to our children?

I feel its the constant bombardment of entertainment- electronics ( tv, lights, sounds) technology in general. Kids don't have to entertain themselves anymore- they don't have to make up things to do or play, its all done for them from a very young age. Funny noises or faces seem dull compared to a shiny iPhone, a video game system or a dvd movie. I think its sad.

It's a variety of factors. Though I'm sure it's an exaggeration that they're saying things like "Seriously, dude?" their looks of confusion and almost pity while attempting to entertain them like you would a 2 year old is probably the issue. 6 year olds are in the final stages of perfecting their gross and fine motor skills, as well as their intellectual, emotional, and social development. Simple noise making will not, and has never, entertained them (or at least not any I've met).

They're not acting like little adults or teens, they're simply responding accordingly to something they believe is nonsense.

You've just got to up your game, old man.

No, seriously, there probably is a change. Kids are exposed to so much media these days that simple things don't entertain them anymore. But you're no different. You probably watch movies and TV and if you had to spend your days being entertained by storytellers or something the way our ancestors were then you'd get bored quickly.

Because this generation of children is unlike any other. They grew up with technology. No one should consider this a bad thing, since technology is the future. Kids today have to deal with the constant stream of information and high energy stimulation. With that, their sense of humor is different. Simple noises aren't enough to make them giggle. They expect wit and humor, not a poor excuse to make them laugh.

Bc people treat their kids like small adults now; so that is how they act!

  • That's something i've never noticed.. interesting you bring that up.
