Controversial question help?!!?

Hi, I'm really really struggling with a controversial question for my paper and I already got most of the articles that talk about the topic but for some reason I can seem to find the negative side.My controversy deals with politics and social media.I have try to write some questions on the topic such as :

1)Is social networking beneficial to politicians?

2)does social networking give politicians an advantage in winning elections?

I really don't know any negative sides to politicians using social networks just that it makes them vulnerable to information being leaked out and it makes them an easy target for attacks.I need more negative sides can you guys help me come up with a better question or at least give me a list of more negative sides that I can look up on please.

By the look of the convos of the politicians in my country..most of them can say stupid things or their opinions about something which could be "politically incorrect". That's what I can come up with...maybe not really a big negative side but maybe it'll help to spark an idea.

    Good luck :)

On the negative side of the social media: Social media is nothing more than gossip instigated by the White House. What is news today is determined by a handful of media moguls. The social media does nothing more than give a positive or a negative reflection of what the administration purposely "leaks" to the media. Your essay is too broad and no reliable or definitive studies have yet been published that I know of. Anything that has been published is no doubt tainted by the liberal point of view.

As to questions (1) and (2), Yes, social networking helped Obama to get reelected because most conservative Republicans never even thought of influencing the public with such cheap, phony methods.

Your basic thesis questions are too closely related. They should be combined into one question: " Is social networking beneficial to politicians who are trying to win elections?"

The negative side is always that the public is not a reliable source because of its tendency to change like the weather.

Another negative side: Politicians who freely use the social media to express their beliefs are not responsible to anyone for their off-the-cuff statements. They say things on tweet that they would not dare to say on the floor of Congress.

    Answers:

1: Yes it is, just as any other form of media has been beneficial to politicians.

2: Yes it does, again, just as any other form of media has been beneficial to politicians.

Corollary: Can social media hurt politicians? Yes it can. Just ask Romney and his now infamous video footage where he's blasting "The 48%" who won't vote for him or how he laments that he's not Latino because he'd otherwise "have this whole thing tied up."

These are not opinions. These are facts.

    So...what's the controversy?
