How often should you have the tires rotated on your car?
I am a widow and my late husband always took care of the cars, its a new car and the dealer told me every 2,000 miles but that sounds to frequent to me.

Every 7,000-8,000 miles is fine. 2K is way to much and wasting money

Look in the owners manual if you have one. Sports cars like a WRX or a Mustang GT need their tires rotated more frequently than say a Camry or a minivan. I'd say every 7500 miles. Also, look at the oil change intervals for your car. The old every 3000 miles routine is outdated with today's better oils and lower emission engines.

Yea, 2000 miles is too frequent, unless the car is used rarely. That's a pretty old standard when tires were made with a different set of standards and materials.
For a typical driver (10k-15k per year)
Do it once a year, as a rule of thumb.

Julie, there is absolutely no reason to rotate and balance your tires any sooner than every 6k miles. You could even stretch it another thousand or two if needed. Best way to remember when to do it is having it done every other oil change.
