Can I put an electric cooker where a gas one should be?
I'm moving house but my new house has a gas connection for the cooker. I have an electric one at the moment that cost a lot of money and was wondering, if I cap the gas connection can I put my electric cooker where the gas one should be?

unless you have a bayonet type fitting on the gas fitting then you must use a gas safe plumber to cap it ..as one answer says you must use a heavy duty cable ..this must be done by a registered sparks ...diy ers not allowed

Before you decide, get a quote for the installation of a cooker point - you are not allowed to do this work yourself (unless you are a qualified electrician). You would also need a registered gas engineer to cap-off the gas supply (used to be "CORGI" now something else???) Then check how much you would get by selling your electric cooker and how much a gas one would cost.

It's no problem The gas can easily be capped off and you'll have to get a 30 amp cable installed.
