@ keith, I think it is b/c it was written a long time ago and it's 'interpretation' has affected many historical events. I was hoping it would be more detailed so the contradictions and errors stood out but it seems that even the kiddie-glove treatment it got was too much for some Xians. sigh

I didn't watch it. And the bible is not a historical document. So it really doesn't belong on the history channel.

I think it's pretty neat how it reenacts some of the famous battles featured in the Bible. However, the events which led up to the violence are not specified, so people who are unfamiliar with the Bible may think Christianity and Judaism are nothing more than violent bloodbaths.

The stories in The Bible lose their power when presented as a straight chronological narrative.
I loved Bible movies when I was a youngster and they influenced me when I was older. Perhaps they’ll have the same effect on those unfamiliar with Judaeo-Christianity.
Showing Jesus takes away the divine mystery away from the Son of God or the Word. It’s always best to show the reaction of people around him.

They have added things that are not in the Bible, like ninja angels, and have glossed over things that are in it, like the battle of Jericho.....
