MTG: Discard or no discard?

I have a Tidal Warrior http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... on the board. My opponent has a Reliquary Tower http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... on the board and 10 cards in his hand. It's his turn. I turn his Reliquary Tower into an island until the end of the turn. He has no response to it. So what happens at the end of the turn? Does he discard down to 7 cards?

Yes, he does. The cleanup phase begins and your opponent must first discard cards if they're over their maximum hand size - any '...until end of turn' effects that are currently in play end immediately after that.

Yes, the discard phase is before the end of the turn, so he would have to discard until he has the right amount of cards, and then his turn would end, ending the effect of tidal warrior.

I'm not sure if tidal warrior turns the target land into a basic island or just changes it's colour. I would assume that it changes it completely into an basic island though.

Alice, the discard step is the end of turn. It all happens during the Cleanup step.
