MTG: Strive?
I'm don't quite understand the new effect of Strive. Take for example Solidarity of Heroes http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion....
When they say it costs G1 more does that mean more than the initial cost or more than the last cost for each additional target?
The first target cost G1 (green & colorless) but does the 2nd target cost G1 or GG2 and a 3rd target costs G1 or GGG3?
I hope that made sense.
3 AnswersCard Games7 years agoMTG: tokens- type? name?
There are some cards that target a card's creature type and some that revolve around a card's name
for example: Extinction http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
and Detention Sphere http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
So if my opponent has some Soldier Tokens on the battlefield is Soldier Token a name or a type or both or neither or what?
2 AnswersCard Games7 years agoMTG: is there a card that?
is there a black, blue, or artifact card that will let me look at the top card of my opponent's library in an ongoing fashion?
1 AnswerCard Games8 years agoMTG: Theros- Destroying god enchantments?
Since the gods in the Theros set are enchantments too can they disenchanted since they are also indestructible? using for example this card: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
4 AnswersCard Games8 years agoMTG: Can you take notes while playing an official game?
Is it legal to bring a pen and paper to take notes while playing? Or are you just limited to cards, tokens, and life counters/dice.
2 AnswersCard Games8 years agoMTG: Discard or no discard?
I have a Tidal Warrior http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... on the board. My opponent has a Reliquary Tower http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... on the board and 10 cards in his hand. It's his turn. I turn his Reliquary Tower into an island until the end of the turn. He has no response to it. So what happens at the end of the turn? Does he discard down to 7 cards?
4 AnswersCard Games8 years agoMTG: preventing damage and planeswalkers?
White has a lot of effects that say something like "prevent the next X damage to target creature or player" Does this leave the poor old planeswalkers SOL?
Or is it like the direct damage effects where you target the player and direct the damage to the planeswalker but instead of damage you target the player and direct the prevent of damage to the planeswalker? Yeah I feel like I'm reaching but since the targeting and directing of damage has always seemed a weird way of going about things I'm hoping the preventing of damage might be equally weird.
2 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: Mystical Tutor - what the heck? down the memory hole?
Mystical Tutor http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
If you read the text on the card and the "Card Text" to the right of it they deleted the 'mana source' from the text. I have the old version in Mirage so the ruling dictates I ignore a potential game saver? Or do I conveniently forget until someone points out the rule change *insert evil laugh*
3 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: damage each player? Planeswalkers?
If a spell or an effect says each player takes X damage. Does this mean that in addition to each player taking damage each planeswalker also takes X damage? Also what if the wording was each player loses X life?
3 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: Azorius Chancery on first turn?
Azorius Chancery http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
Can I play Azorius Chancery on the first turn? It says it comes in tapped and to return a land to my hand. But since this is the first turn I have no other lands in play to return. So is this a freebie for me?
4 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: who controls XXX now?
I'm running a black/red deck. In my hand I have a Traitorous Blood http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... On the battlefield I have Lyzolda, the Blood Witch http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... My opponent has XXX (insert creature here) on the battlefield with Unhallowed Pact http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... cast on it (by me). I cast Traitorous Blood and gain control of XXX. I attack my opponent with it (it survives) and then I sacrifice XXX using Lyzolda. According to Unhallowed Pact XXX is under my control now. But according Traitorous Blood I only gained control until the end of the turn. So who controls XXX at the end of the turn?
5 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: whose graveyard?
If I take control of an opponent's creature and it dies whose graveyard does it go to initially? Does it go to mine and then zip over to my opponents or does it go straight over to my opponents graveyard?
5 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: any specific order it happens?
on the battlefield I have:
Pilgrim's Eye
Champion of the Parish (no counters yet)
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
Cathars' Crusade
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
Inexorable Tide
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
Now I cast a Soul Warden. Is it my choice on which order things happen? Does Cathars' Crusade/Champion activate first or does Inexorable Tide kick in first?
2 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: Argentum Armor and targeting?
I equipped my Marsh Threader (Kor Scout) with Argentum Armor http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
and attacked my opponent who had Riders of Gavony http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...
in play and he chose Kor as a creature type to have protection from. Now the Argentum Armor effect of destroying a target permanent kicks in- what exactly is doing the tartgeting? the equipment or the Marsh Threader? Can the riders be targeted?
3 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: Commander- different versions of plainwalkers?
I'm making a Commander deck and am wondering if I can have different versions of a Plainswalker in the deck-I have a Chandra Nalaar and a Chandra, the Firebrand. And if it is allowed can I have both of them on the battlefield at the same time? Or is it something like having two of the same Legends on the battlefield?
1 AnswerCard Games9 years agoMTG: Regeneration, damage and -1/-1s?
Let's say I have a Cudgel Troll (4/3 with regeneration) on the battlefield. I attack with him and he is blocked and receives 2 points of damage. Combat ends. In the 2nd main phase my opponent casts a spell or uses an ability that targets my troll with a -1/-1 effect. Can I use my troll's regeneration ability? He didn't actually take any damage that would destroy him.
4 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: +1 counters on things that become creatures?
There are a number of lands that become creatures until the end of the turn as well as artifacts, and even Gideon Jura. So if I manage to put a +1/+1 counter on one of these while they are creatures will that counter remain when it reverts back to what it was? The land Raging Ravine http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... has the ability to put +1/+1 counters on itself that will remain (although useless until it becomes a creature again). But I'm not sure if this is limited to this card only or it extends to all things that become creatures.
3 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: is exile the equivalent to leaving the battlefield?
Just wondering if a Meadowboon http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... is exiled out of the game if its effect would still trigger. Not sure if "leaves the battlefield" is code for graveyard.
4 AnswersCard Games9 years agoMTG: Commander Greven il-Vec?

2 AnswersCard Games9 years agomtg: Kuldotha Rebirth & artifact in what order are they put in graveyard?
Kuldotha Rebirth http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion....
I want to use the Bösium Strip http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp... to cast the Kuldotha Rebirth with other artifacts as it sits on top of the graveyard. Do I decide which card goes to the graveyard first? As part of sacrificing does the artifact go first or last?
