MTG: tokens- type? name?

There are some cards that target a card's creature type and some that revolve around a card's name

for example: Extinction http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...

and Detention Sphere http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.asp...

So if my opponent has some Soldier Tokens on the battlefield is Soldier Token a name or a type or both or neither or what?

A token's name is set by the effect that creates it. If the effect doesn't specify a name, then the token's name is the same as its creature type. For example, the Soldier tokens created by Captain of the Watch are named "Soldier".

Unless a name is specified (See Helm, Sword and Shield of Kaldra) , then the token's type (eg Horror, Soldier) is the same as it's name.
