After the PlayStation 4 is released, how long will PlayStation Network remain on the PlayStation 3?
I don't know the all the basics, but I think PlayStation Network won't be available for long on PS3 after the PS4 is released. I'm not sure of this is how it works since I've only played games online for about two years on the Nintendo 3DS, Wii, and PS3. I don't think I'm going to buy any of the next generation consoles because they don't sound too good. An example is the PS4 won't be backwards compatible and I've heard it won't play used game discs. How, I like to save money on games once in a while and sometimes my friends and I borrow/sell our games to each other. Xbox 720 or whatever it is going to be called won't use discs at all. I won't want this since I prefer buying an actual copy of the game at the store instead of a download. As for the Wii U, it doesn't look like it is off to a good start, yet. Maybe they'll come around. I'll just play online on the PS3 until it's unavailable and then quit if none of the next console don't appeal to me. So, just need a guess at how long I can still play online such PS3.
These are just things I've heard from different sources and people. A game magazine mentioned something about PS4 locking out used game discs or something like that and Xbox 720 being download only. Don't know if this info is real or just rumors, but I hope they're not like this.

There is no definite answer to your question, But I can guarantee you that PlayStation Network will be up and running even after the release of the PS4. Even tho Sony has not said a word about what they will do with PlayStation Network or how long it will run after the release of the Playstation 4. They have said this, "You can expect the Playstation 3 to be supported until at least 2015". Meaning games will be supported until at least for the next 3 years "2015". And If there supporting games for the next 3 years you can expect them to be supporting PlayStation Network right along with it. It's just the logical thing to do, It would make no sense for them to continue to support games for there system without a online network. And as for the next generation of consoles, I highly recommend the Wii U.I just got my Wii U two weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I am disappointed with there 1st party exclusives, But as for there upcoming games it's looking very good. The games that are out now for it are going to last you for a good while, To me the Wii was a huge disappointment with there being a huge lack of 3rd party games and underpowered hardware, That's something they have changed with the Wii U, It's exceeded my expectations by far. It's truly a great console, Nintendo did it right trust me. As for the Playstation 4, I would wait at least 2 years to get it. I'm very happy with the console, A lot of people are saying it's just a PS3 on steroids, As if that's a bad thing lol. But the reason why I'm waiting 2 years is because Sony has a bad habit of releasing better versions of there systems- "Playstation 3 Slim" And Playstation 3 Super Slim. And a price drop, Also your talking about 2 years into games so you will have tons of games to buy. So I will defiantly get the Playstation 4 but I'm just waiting 2 years to do so, It's just the logical thing to do.

It'll more then likely stick around for quite awhile. Also, there wasn't anything announced about the Xbox 720 (Or whatever it's name is going to be) not using disc's, that was just random speculations which are more then likely not true.

There's no actual confirmed data saying ps4 won't use disk and psn will be up for both why would it go down? Ps3 are still going to be used just like modern day ps2s. Next gen just means better graphics and bigger hardware software all that, ps3 was next gen it was just more advanced than ps2
