Moses basket or crib?

I am shopping for my first baby and wondered which was better?

Thank you :)

well you're gonna need a crib either way as the baby will out grow the moses basket.

my opinion is starting the baby out directly into the crib is better cuz then there is no transitioning later.

sure it may not be as convenient for you cuz you will have to get up and walk into another room instead of just roll over to get the baby from next to your bed BUT it will become convenient when you are not having to try to get your baby to sleep in their crib once they outgrow the moses basket.

This really depends on the baby. All my children were able to (and did!) climb out of their moses basket at between 7 days to 5 weeks old. So a moses basket really wasn't safe for any of them. However, all my grandchildren have happily and safely slept in a moses basket for a full 12 months!

Moses baskets are nice for newborns but they wont stay there very long since they are small so if your only buying one i would buy a crib but if possible try buying both a moses is really nice to have in the bedroom as newborns since they wake up so many times

my 3 months old baby is sleeping in his crib from his 1st day at home and is great

I have a small baby and we used the moses basket for 5 months. What I loved about it that it had wheels and I could swing it a little bit as well so you could rock it, which helped a lot with sleep as it helped to give us different ways of soothing, not just by holding her in our arms. Don't misunderstand, I did hold her in my arms a lot and I still do, but sometimes when she had a little cry when asleep then I could just rock her bed and she went back to sleep. It also helped us to teach her how to fall asleep by herself as the we could rock her in her bed and she could fall asleep easier. So I swear by the moses basket for the beginning and just change to the crib when you have to.

Is it safe to assume you mean like a small portable crib? Have you checked out the rock n play? That is what we used in lieu of small crib and it was fantastic. It is easily portable. Daughter slept in it until 3 months also. Get the one with padding in the head area! Chek out amazon reviews if you are not convinced. We were quickly able to resell it also for $50 bucks also on CL.
