Why has the quality of music gone down so much?
In all most all regards too. Now on the radio it's all basically the same, poor lyrics, overused beats that I presume are the reason people like the music, some new singer that sounds the same as the last, and a very low variety of lyrics (e.g it seems like one big chores). I mean seriously, rock isn't nearly what it used to be, rap has gone down ALOT, and now one of the newest genre is like some form of techno (which I've been told is called Dubstep) and that takes almost no talent to do. It seems like all the popular songs are the same, the same basic lyrics, the same basic style of singing, the same beats, the same voice singing (singers now a days have almost no individuality). I was just wondering because I can't figure it out, and yes I know that there still are plenty of good underground artists but the real question is "why aren't they the popular singers?".

It's the music industry itself that has declined. Music is now about making money, songs are paid to be on the radio or in the charts.
So yes, popular music has declined.
However there is still an enormous amount of brilliant music out there, if you haven't found it yet then you just need to go looking for it. There's bad music in every time frame, it's just the good music that survives the test of time. Looking back we see the good stuff because we don't remember the bad stuff.

Having been a song fan for 0.5 a century i've got considered cases like this come and flow (does every person remember disco?) song is artwork. and prefer artwork it changes simply by fact the cases substitute. categories split off and converge back to mixture right into a clean sound. Western song and do-wop mixed to alter into rock-a-billy. Rock-a-billy split and grew to become u . s .-western and rock and roll. CW has splintered and usually used rap as a potential (Cowboy Troy and youngster Rock crossing strains). to assert the same old has long previous down would not do the artists justice. Has it replaced from what you cherished before, definite actually. Will it become something extra helpful? wait and see! did you comprehend there have been protesters waiting on the airport whilst the Beatles first got here to united states of america? did you comprehend how mother and father stressful approximately their little ones procuring death documents? no longer conversing approximately emo, google songs like tell Laura i admire Her or the chief of the %., lifeless guy's Curve, from the late 50's early 60's. And conversing of Disco, it relatively is not any longer lifeless, it in simple terms developed into electronica and beat song. I remember thinking rock substitute into lifeless when I heard Led Zeppelin 2! So don't fret approximately it, precise now in some darkish bar or in a basement or storage the subsequent new style of song is being written and perfected and it will knock your socks off!

I'll agree most of it is the same. There's a 'science to mixing and mastering' engineers use nowadays. 44.1kHz sample rate, kicks cut < 100 Hz, snares at 180-200 Hz. It's not a matter of the artists though, it's the people who master the stuff. Dubstep may take no talent, but other forms of EDM do, I'm mostly referring to drum and bass. To program hemiolas at a live setting at 174 BPM is tough ****.

I do not think you can judge it based on what is on the radio. i have heard some of the best music in years lately but it could never make it to the radio. Funny enough they often show up in films.

As the quality of society decreases, so does the quality of its music. And bro, our society sucks.
