Why does the Catholic church fail to support Israel?
Zionism is a crucial part of Christianity. My little evangelical church in Texas has sent volunteers (many with military experience) to the Israeli settlements to help the Jewish people defend themselves against the Islamic invaders.
And yet - even though this issue should unite all Christians - the Catholic church has failed to take a pro-Israel, anti-"Palestinian" stand. In some cases, Catholic activists CRITICIZE Israel's policies, which is against the Bible's own teachings about being an ally of the Jews.
Why is this? Why does the Catholic leadership fail to support Zionism, Israel, and the brave settlers of Yehuda ve-Shomron?

Hello,
1) Well much as I am in sympathy with Israel your church is dead wrong. As decent Christians we should be working and supporting both sides of the Arab - Israeli conflict to come to a peaceful and harmonious conclusion. There are enough crazies living in the world that we as foreigners and Christians ought not to pick up guns and pop of the Muslims.
Quoting some exerpts on this:
2) Another thing that does not make sense is Christian Zionists supporting Israeli hostilities toward the Palestinians. Yes, God blesses those who bless Israel. But not everything Israel currently does blesses God. Israel as a nation is hardly seeking the blessing of the Palestinians. According to God’s first promise to Abraham, all peoples will be blessed through Isaac’s seed, not cursed (See Genesis 12:1-3). Moreover, Arabs are descendants of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom God also blesses (See Genesis 17:19-21, Genesis 21:13, 17-18). Furthermore, many Palestinians are Christians, a point often lost on many Christian Zionists.
3) Speaking of Jesus, we find him often challenging his own Jewish people. Their national identity or ancestral connection to Abraham is not sufficient (John the Baptist makes a similar point—Matthew 3:9). He exhorts them to have the faith of Abraham (John 8:31–58). The Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:21–28) and Centurion (Matthew 8:5–13) are sterling examples of those who have the faith of Abraham. Those of Abraham’s faith are Abraham’s spiritual children, according to Paul (Galatians 3:7). We must also account for Jesus’ exhortation to the Jewish religious teacher who sought to test Jesus about what is required to inherit eternal life. Jesus tells him to love his neighbor as himself and shares with him the parable of a lowly Samaritan who exemplifies righteousness—caring for a man (likely a Jewish man) who was beaten and robbed and left for dead (Luke 10:25–37).
4) The point of referencing these biblical accounts is to point out that God loves all people and that God is no respecter of persons. While Israel is the people of promise, God blesses all people and calls everyone to account to believe like Abraham in the promised Messiah and to live like the unnamed Samaritan as people of the promise. To believe like Abraham entails living like the Samaritan. As Jesus the Messiah makes clear, my neighbor is not the person like me or the person I like, but the person in need—even my enemy. I am responsible to care for him or her. Thus, as Christians, we are to promote concern for the well-being of all peoples and pray that the Jews and Palestinians will care deeply for one another.
5) Scripture specifies that Israel is to care for the foreigners in the land, granting them an inheritance and treating them as native-born (Ezekiel 47:21–22): How much more noteworthy is this text when the people in question—the Palestinians—have lived in the land for generations prior to the Jewish people’s return? Mark Bailey, President of Dallas Theological Seminary, maintains that “when Israel is restored to the land, they are to treat the aliens and strangers as if they were Israelites.” In this light, he challenges the modern state of Israel, as well as the Palestinian authority: “Do you know what is lacking in Israel? Just a minor, little plank in God’s program: treating others as you would like to be treated…The bottom-line principle is so powerful, so biblical: Israel needs to treat others as they would like to be treated. The Palestinian authority needs to treat Israel as they would like to be treated. This applies to all peoples” (See Mark Bailey, “The Lord’s Land Policy in Israel,” in Veritas, vol. 2/3 {July 2002}, 4–5).
6) Many Jews are wary of the fact that many evangelical Christians simply want to convert them to Christianity or speed up the Second Coming of Christ. Jews are also uncomfortable with Christian Zionists because most have few other common political interests besides their support for Israel. The majority of American Jews are politically and socially liberal. Christian Zionists are on the whole politically conservative Republicans who, for example, oppose abortion and gay marriage, and support prayer in public schools. Most Jews are particularly concerned over what they see as the Christian Right’s efforts to weaken the separation between church and state. The Anti-Defamation League’s director, Abe Foxman, has been particularly outspoken and has said that if the domestic agenda of the Christian Right ever materializes, it will turn American Jews into “second-class citizens in our own country.”
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

The fathers of the Roman Catholic Church (Universal Church) were anti-Semitic, being in diametric opposition to the Jewish people. The originator of this Universal Church was Constantine the Great who was the first Roman Emperor to profess Christianity combining the first century true church with the paganism of the day. By this he created a religion that the Torah keeping Jews could in no wise be apart. This rift caused many Jews to reject Jesus as the true Messiah as it is this day. Many of the Church Fathers such Origen of Alexandra, Justin the martyr, Saint Augustine, Martin Luther, and Many others voice in writing their anti-Semitic views.
The Catholic Church also has a long bloody tradition of anti-Semitic behavior. Namely the Crusades, the Holy Inquisitions that took place between the late 1300's all the way through to the 1900's. I personally belief that this new Pope will try to change.
The Encyclopedia Britannica states the following:
Constantine I, byname Constantine the Great, Latin in full Flavius Valerius Constantinus (born February 27, after ad 280?, Naissus, Moesia [now Niš, Serbia]—died May 22, 337, Ancyrona, near Nicomedia, Bithynia [now İzmit, Turkey]), the first Roman emperor to profess Christianity. He not only initiated the evolution of the empire into a Christian state but also provided the impulse for a distinctively Christian culture that prepared the way for the growth of Byzantine and Western medieval culture.

The Church was established by way of Jesus Christ who gave Peter the authority, that would be stated in Heaven, the hierarchy and more than a few councils continued on from the Apostles to the early Church Fathers to the gift time. The altering from Saturday which was their normal time of worship used to be easy, the Apostles had been kicked out of the synagogue, due to the fact that they were not welcomed there anymore they persevered their worship of God and the breaking of the bread on Sunday the day of Jesus's Resurrection. If the Church used to be so stuffed with apostasy it would certainly not have endured through the persecutions, murders, communism, schism, 'reformations' and harassment's for over 2000 years. If it was no longer guided with the aid of the Holy Spirit in the reality it would by no means have survived. The Church has watched mighty nations upward thrust and fall it's going to proceed on as other nations upward push and fall in the future. The gates of Hell is not going to be successful in opposition to it, the authentic Church of Jesus Christ will last except the tip of the sector.

Zionism is not crucial to christianity, love is. There are also Palestinains that are christians. The bible does teach to be an ally of anyone, just love each other. If the Israel governmentsponsers violence to innocent civilians that really cannot be in any agreement or harmony with christianity

Islamic invaders.
My god man haven't you ever read a history book?
This place has been called Palestine since the time of Jesus. There never was any place called Israel outside of the ancient fairy tale books.
Palestine is being held by a criminal organization, and the rightful inhabitants are being held in Gaza the largest concentration camp on the planet.
You are aiding and abetting war criminals.
Seriously, you need to read some actual history, not just your little book of lies.

Christianity is not zionist my friend...many palestinians are also Christian and catholic at that. They cannot abandon this. Also, the most famous Christian sites are in Palestine so it would not do the Church well to condemn the people who guard their holy sites or they may decide to let the extremist handle it.

It was the Catholic Church that ordered the eradication of the Jews in times past.
