Lately, our Windows Defender has been in the "Service has been stopped" This has not happened in the past. We have Windows 7, Avira, and recently had to replace the hard drive. Can anyone tell me step by step what I need to do to correct this issue.

If you have Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) you need to remove it, MSE turns off windows defender & its an antivirus program & you can only run one antivirus program.
