Do you think Aubergine could make an acceptable name for a girl?

You'd seriously consider calling your child eggplant?

That goes way beyond conceited all the way to nasty & vicious.

A lot of people go out of their way to come out as unique with their choice of baby names. There are also those who want to come up with names that they think will make their children have a good chance of seeming more intelligent or what have you and will make them get chosen for really good jobs and so on. I was actually watching a television program where the parents actually hired people to choose the best name for their child in order to have the things I mentioned above. Whatever the reason may be, it does strike most people as pretty sad when one hears that a parent actually called their daughter names like Virgil, Nolan, Alistair and Asher (I would also say "Evan" but I am noticing that I have become more familiar with that name for a girl as I knew one at work---------but I must admit, at first it really didn't sit well with me to call this pretty young lady "Evan"------which brings me to the point that, thank God, we often become numb to the fact that these names seem inappropriate once we get to know people with these kind of names).

Heavens no! This is a person we're talking about, not an art project. "Unique" names are asking for bullying in school, and even as an adult studies have shown interviewers judge people based on name before they even meet them.

Have some compassion and don't intentionally make your kid a target.

No, I wouldn't use it as a name.

Do you realize that's another name for an "Eggplant"?

I personally would never consider naming a child after a vegetable.

No. Aubergine is an ugly shade of purple. Please do not name your daughter after colors.

Yeah its so different. I like it a lot. Once knew a girl called manderine and loved that too

I prefer the names Carrot and Peas. But it's your child, therefore up to you! If you like it go for it!

You would call your daughter 'Egg plant'? Why not just go all out and call her Zucchini or Capsicum or Pumpkin?

    I don't think so...
