Gas furnace won't kick back on, pilot light still on?

Turned down the thermostat, turned up back up a few hours later. Furnace won't make a sound, won't kick in at all. Pilot light is still on. Replaced thermostat, and still nothing. It's a Rheem propane furnace.

Update:

The thermostat was really old. It was a 2-wire heat only, so it was a quick install. But the problem happened before we replaced the old thermostat. Power is on, pilot light is still going.

Update 2:

Plenty of propane. 65%

    Man...oh man...the answers I see on here.

The first thing to do is jumper the thermostat connections (temporarily) on the gas valve and see if the furnace kicks on.

If it fires up you either have a bad t-stat or it is wired incorrectly.

If it doesn't start up then you'll probably need a qualified technician to diaqnose the furnace for you. There is flame safeguards, proving circuits etc that you won't be able to diagnose properly yourself.

If you do try and diagnose it yourself, you will probably end up spending more money throwing parts at it than if you paid a technician in the first place.

    Good luck with it!

So, turn the thermostat down even more, with a new one, you might need to go lower than you think to get it on. Are you sure you have put the furnace back into automatic mode, and not manual?

Without diagnostic info your guess is as good as mine.

    Possible problems:

    Blown fuse

    Dead transformer

    Switch/power is off

Furnace blower door safety switch is not closed

    Bad circuit board

    Shorted wire

    Bad gas valve

    Bad ignition control

    Loose wire

    Open high limit

    Open roll out.

If it has one, a bad inducer motor

Have you checked to see if you have 24 volts? If you don't it sounds like a transformer. If you do then check to see if you have 24 volts to the gas valve. If you do then the gas valve is bad. If you have 24 volts at the transformer and not at the gas valve then you have a safety tripped. Good luck.

How much pressure is left in the propane tank? They do cut out at low pressure.
