I received a blooming hyacinth plant for my birthday. Can I plant it outside and when?

The blooms are dead but the greenery is still very green. Do I have to wait till fall to plant it? Or should I let the greenery die and keep the bulb in the dirt in the pot until fall? Or should I plant it outside now? I might add that I live in Ohio and my birthday was in February...

You can either plant it outside after freezing weather is over, as stated, or you can store it until fall. To do this, let the green leaves yellow, cut them off, take the plant out of the pot and shake and brush off all the soil. Use dry peat moss in a paper bag for storing the bulb. Keep in a dry, cool place (garage) until fall.

I would wait just until there is no more possibility of frost and then plant it.
