how do democrats feel about obama signing the monsanto protection act?
while the country was busy with gay marriage, he signed a law protecting the bioengineering firm from litigation.
so it's okay for obama to do it because republicans are corrupt as well?
According to The Austin Chronicle, the measure protects genetically modified seeds from litigation by “allowing the U.S. Department of Agriculture to override judicial rulings and grant temporary permits for conventional farmers to plant and grow genetically modified crops while pending review.”
Prior to the measure, courts had the ability to suspend the farming of GMO crops in the face of health or environmental risks. “It sets a terrible precedent,” stated the International Business Times. “Though it will only remain in effect for six months until the government finds another way to fund its operations, the message it sends is that corporations can get around consumer safety protections if they get Congress on their side. Furthermore, it sets a precedent that suggests that court challenges are a privilege, not a right.”
protects farmers my a**. that's how it's packaged for morons to buy into it.

I don't like it, but it's not like Republicans will ever go after Monsanto. Therefore, using Obama's support for Monsanto to justify replacing him is pretty stupid.
Edit: Actually, I'm not saying it's okay. I'm saying when we realistically have only two choices, bad and worse, I'll take bad.

The Government needs to stop any litigation whatsoever regarding how Farmers should handle growing their crops. @Binky Snopes was originally funded by Soros and furthermore, the government deregulating what Monsanto does on crops that are already biotechnically approved by Monsanto is Legal Mumbo Jumbo.

I think it's disgusting.
I'm not sure I blame Obama for this "personally." I think the power of corporate lobbying and corporate political donations -- both inside the GOP and inside the Democratic Party -- makes it very hard for even decent politicians to resist corporate power grabs like this one.
But it's horrible law, and a great example of the "golden rule" in American politics: he who has the gold, rules.

Why protect them from litigation? Monsanto spends a lot of time suing farmers. Who will protect the farmers from Monsanto?

It's not right. he should have listened to liberals and ignored conservatives on this one. Any time he takes their advice he ends up doing the wrong thing. He should stop trying to be so moderate and move to the left. Thanks for pointing this out. We should all encourage Obama to lean left rather than his current middle ground strategy. You are an awesome liberal for acknowledging the failure of the ideas of the right
How could the republicans in the house be so sneaky as to pass this? We need to replace house republicans YESTERDAY! A democratic house would never have passed this right wing piece of trash.

You are either a "troll" or you are just too dumb to understand that you have been "had" by some other troll...

The Bill actually protects FARMERS from having crops destroyed rather than protecting Monsanto...
The entire "anti-GMO" issue is being driven by consumer ignorance....FARMING is "genetic modification", derp!
