Almost 5 months old.?
My sons almost 5 months old In a week. He has been very interested in the food I eat and the fluids I drink. (i dont let him taste it of course). But he does grab for my cups mostly.even cans and tries drinking from it. I watch him carefully. Iv tried putting distilled water in a cup and he took sips from it. My question is.. When and should I try sippy.cups? Is it too early?. He.has one tooth. CAnn it effect his tooth/gums?. He gets upset.when I try to take my cup or whatever im drinking back. Hes a very curious boy.
Hes on formula and cerreals. He holds.his bottle on his own.
Thanks for the information all. Im gonna try a sippy soon then. I will in about a week. He got ahold of some cantelop the other day and just loved sucking on it. Hes a big boy. 18 pounds and 27.2 inches long. So he fits perfectly at the table +)

Sound liek you should start giving him a sippy cup! Hes curious so Ide let him have a go at it! the thing that will affect his teeth is if you let the juice/milk sit on them. Like giving a baby a bottle in the crib to go tto sleep with.
I always use 1/2 water 1/2 100% juice. I use my own juicer so I knwo there is nothing but the good stuff in it! :) When you give him the sippy cup to try just make sure he is sitting upright. The flow may cause him to choke if he is too eager. Give him cheerios or the puffs that melt or rice rusks (babies r us) see how he likes those and he may even suprise you and learn to self feed! :) Boys tend to eat tabel food faster then girls both my boys between 6-9 months were on my diner table food (just cur up small and obviously not givign them steak and hard foods lol) my princess is 8 months and barely eating purees! So each baby does these things in their own time and you just play by their cues! :)

Grabbing your cup and taking a sip from it is how babies learn to drink from a cup. If you drink water, there is no harm in letting him try to take a sip. You can wait a bit for the sippy cups.

You can try a sipper cup that is age appropriate. You can also give him baby food, applesauce, mash potatoes, anything smooth. He sounds really curious in food. Feed him some different food and try a sipper cup. It never to early to learn.
