Hypothetically, if North Korea attempted to hit us or one of our allies with a nuclear weapon but...?
it malfunctioned and didn't explode or fell harmlessly into the ocean, would that still trigger a nuclear retaliation from the U.S.?
I personally believe that just making the threat of a nuclear attack should be an international crime, punishable by having all your nuclear facilities blown up by allied forces.
"us" referring to the U.S. sorry, I sometimes forget this is worldwide.

Nuclear retaliation, no, but because North Korea would never try to make a nuclear attack without attacking South Korea at the same time, we'd already be at war.

If that missile got close it would immediately get shot down.
And if it did fall harmlessly into the ocean, that might not trigger nuclear retaliation, but there will be a HUGE backlash against North Korea.

No one here is the president, DOD secretary or some 4-star general working at The Pentagon. So no one could give you an actual answer.
