Easter Bunny Laying Eggs?

The goddess Eostre or Oestre had a bird that turned into a bunny. In another story, Eostre found a very sick bird & saved its life by turning it into a bunny. Since birds lay eggs, by some oddity, Oestre then had an egg-laying bunny or at least a bunny who collected, decorated, & distributed them, depending on which story you like best. Christians took over a holiday that people associated with happiness surrounding the Spring Equinox & symbols associated with fertility. Adding the miracles of Jesus & the story of immortality made it even more joyous. So, the pagans then were joyous instead of feeling discontented about what was being pushed onto them.

I don't remember anyone ever suggesting that the bunny LAYS the eggs, just that the Easter rabbit(a notoriously fertile and prolific species) leaves eggs( another fertility symbol) as part of the pagan celebration of the return of spring and the birth of new livestock(lambs, for instance).

We can safely assume that the bunny just decorates the eggs, but doesn't physically produce them. Even the chocolate ones are pretty obviously manufactured.

Additional Details: You are mistaken, kids aren't the ones who would be confused, because they believe in any number of impossible things as a matter of routine. It is the adults who get bogged down in logical impossibilities.

I'm pretty sure the bunny doesn't lay them. He collects them from his hens and that is why chickens are another Easter animal.
