When is it ok to wear all black?
Is it ok to wear a black dress shirt and a black dress pant to a casual/business professional event?
I was told by many that wearing all black is not considered business professional. What about wearing a black shirt with a red tie and a black pant?

Head to toe black, especially with long sleeves/pants just looks too stark.
And I don't like the all black with a red tie either.

The black pants and shirt with a red tie would be okay, but not great. Try black pants, a white shirt, and a blue tie.

Well lots of black can go both ways: terribly wrong or boldly powerful. A black, button-up, dress-shirt, with a red tie, is very good! Red and black are power colors! Make sure the red tie is not a faded, icky, red. Make sure it is cleaned and it is satin-like fabric. Make sure to wear a black suit jacket to complete the ensemble! Like this for example: the black button-up + suit jacket w/ the red tie and dress pant:

Good luck at the business event! (I say that sincerely)

I think its perfectly fine to be in all black but at the right place and time. Its actually very professional and known for buisness men and women to be adressed in black clothing. no same do what you think is right and what you feel most comftorable in is the important thing!
