Is it okay for a man to date when he is separated but not divorced?

What about for a single man to date a woman who is separated but not divorced? Why?

I think most folks date when separated but I think you need to be legally separated. You need to have made up your mind and committed to the separation before you ask anyone else out.

It has been my experience that most of the time the reason for a separation is so that the one asking for the separation can date someone they are interested in. They never come right out and say so but that has been my experience.

If the divorce is in process. Paperwork filed. Waiting on scheduled court dates for finalization. Etc. Then I think it is okay to start dating. Divorces, even ones that are not contested, can take a long time due to hoops and rings the state requires.

If the marriage is over and each person lives separately then I think its ok to date.

It's Biblically wrong since the person is still married, and somewhat socially wrong because the person does not necessarily want to divorce yet.
