Combat medic! I need real insight thats useful please!?
I'm an 18 year old female looking to go into the army and my dream job in the army would be a combat medic! So two questions, would i be able too? And second question, is army the branch to go into?

its possible since certain combat roles are opening up to women. and is army the branch to go in to... well thats up to you. i can say, i respect army combat positions highly. i can also say your civil service is commendable to the highest degree.
As food for thought, watch "restrepo" on netflix. its a live documentary tracking an army unit through the korengal valley in afghanistan. restrepo was their medic. all of it is raw and uncut, so its a real eye opener. please watch it, highly suggested

You can enlist 68W Health Care Specialist (Combat Medic) but the chances of you being deployed with a Infantry Unit is highly unlikely, most men fill those positions while the females are stationed at hospitals and emergency rooms. Technically the MOS isn't a "Combat Medic" but a Health Care Specialist.

With operations winding down in Afghanistan, the odds are slim. Just face facts, you will be just a plain medic. You can't really call yourself a combat medic until you've earned your combat medical badge.
