I know, right... and what was a Mexican doing in Israel in the first place?

First of all, there were no Arabs in the land of israel back then. Arabs were still confined to the Arabian peninsula and did not invade what is now israel/Palestine 600 years after Jesus died.
Secondly John and James are Jewish names. James ultimately derives from Ya'aqov, or in English, Jacob. John comes from the hebrew name "Yohanan" which means "God (Yahweh) is gracious)
Peter and Andrew are Greek names, and Greek names were common among Jews in Israel back then because at the time Israel (known as Judea then) was a roman province, and had adopted Greco-Roman culture to some extent.

JESUS is the English translation of YeShua which in Spanish is pronounced 'Hey-sues', and Matthew is the English translation that ultimately comes from the Hebrew name Matityahu. Simon is a common name, from Hebrew שִׁמְעוֹן Šimʻôn. Pretty simple. Some authors consider it a classical Greek name. Phillip is a Hebrew name: Pinchas. Andrew, From the Greek name Ανδρεας (Andreas). Thomas is based on the Biblical Greek Θωμᾶς, which is itself a transcription of the Aramaic te'oma תאומא "twin. Hence THOMAS THE TWIN if you read the greek translation of the bible.
PS, the middle east in that time was made up of GREEKS ROMANS AND JEWS, so think about it...

He didn't. Those are the english versions of the names.
John was actually Yohanan
James (a form of the name Jacob actually) was actually Yaʻaqov
Andrew was something like Andreas
Peter was Petros
And so on an so forth.

Great question! Those all may be Greek or Roman in origin, but I'm no linguist, so don't take my word on it.
My thoughts are that Jesus was a man in the Middle East who may have been a spiritual teacher of some sort, but then the MYTH of Christ, and the 12 apostles, came from ancient Greece. I'm fairly certain that, since Christ is a Sun god, the 12 apostles are the constellations of the Zodiac, since they both travel through the ecliptic.
The story of Jesus' virgin birth is a combo of Egyptian mythology and Jesus' astrological chart, using Mary (the Moon) and Gabriel (Mercury) to relate his astrological layout in words. This further proves my point that a lot of the Bible is based solely on astrology.

Um, you do know that the Bible was translated into English right? Many of the more common names appear in the NT in English while some of the more uncommon ones remained untranslated.

Lol... this made me smile, mostly because I suspect you DON'T know that these are the English translation of the Hebrew names.
(Most of our English names are in fact Bible names and I take pleasure in the fact that most of the names that begin with a J- (John, Joanna, Josh, etc) people don't know actually that J- is the J-ay in JEHOVAH and those name incorporate the divine name)

It had that exact question in a picture. I can only assume it's a meme at this point and you stole this joke from one of these photos.

Just be glad it was Galilee and not Billericay.
Or we'd have had disciples with names like Darren, Wayne, Ricky, Warren...

Believe it or not, the Bible wasn't originally written in English! It was originally in Hebrew and everyone had Hebrew names. When it was translated the names were anglicised. Durr!!
