Answers on a rental house?
I have insurance on my rental home but it has not been occupied for 3 months for the reason being I have been doing renovations on it. I have all the utilities on and work on it when I can.
Last week the home burned and the ins. company doesn't want to pay for the loss because no one was living there. It says in my policy that a home under construction is covered, but the co. hasn't said yet that they will pay. I only had 20,000 dollars coverage on it and it was a 60,000 home and i have done a lot of repairs on it that the insurance didn't pay for. What are my chances of being reimbursed for the house. I am with Farm Bureau.

Completely read your whole policy to find what is covered. Yes insurance companies will not cover certain claims if a house is vacant. Mine will not cover water damage or break-ins if the house is vacant. If you don't like what you read then you better call a lawyer.

If you had $20K coverage, then the best you will get is $20K. You have a zero percent chance of getting $60K.
