Kindle Fire isn't recognized by computer?
I have a regular desktop PC, and I got a Kindle Fire HD today, but when I plug it in (to multiple USB ports), it offers to install the hardware on my computer (from a disk), and the Kindle itself shows that it's connected to a charger and the battery is powering.
However, in the 'my computer' area, I see no Kindle or USB software showing up, regardless of how many times I connect it or refresh it. What is going on?!

Try to follow those solution suggested, like unlock it, turn it on, etc. See if it works.

I simply desired to add my reply due to the fact there seems to be quite a few confusion. I have an usual 1st gen kindle fire HD, already replaced it as soon as as a result of overheating which cracked the glass. It can be now three years historical and all of the sudden I can't get it register a device on any laptop whatsoever. I've located various different humans with this hindrance and i'm happy to put up the $10 reply. ******ALL YOU need is a brand new fastboot cable (which I ordered from ebay, though do get one from the united states and not China), probabilities are your cable died like mine did and also you threw it away pondering any ancient USB will work. It doesnt. Newer kindles without a doubt dont need the fastboot cable but older ones do, fastboot cables have a pin inside of which enables the switch of expertise. Simply jump on ebay and order a fastboot cable for $10 and that i warranty it'll fix your concern :) glad kindle times all <three Casondra Starseed

It will show up as a removable storage device, just like a pen drive. It can charge and transfer data at the same time.
BUT, get the wall adaptor it will charge in a quarter of the time it takes tethered to the computer. It's $20 bucks
