Should i still take my Tranexamic Acid tablets as directed?

Ok, about 2 months ago i went to the doctor over my depression and when she asked if there was anything else i told her about the really rough period i'd had that month. How i'd stopped breathing for a few minutes as a clot passed and i had a really bad cramp, how i was nearly passing out from the pain and was drip white and weak for the entire week. She told me that it could be a one -off but if it happened again to mention it at my next appointment. Anyway, it did happen again, and i explained that i'm used to painful and heavy periods as i've never had one of those happy ones off the adverts (not that i suspect anyone has) but only the last 2 had been this bad with no painkillers (paracetamol, co-codamol, ibuprofen and diclofenac '[not all at once]) taking anything away, hot showers doing nothing, hot water bottles doing nothing and the thought of food making me nauseous. I was worried for another reason, that my family has a few people diagnosed with endometriosis. The kind that ended up with them having hysterectomies. The youngest being only my age at the time. I'm 24 by the way. I explained that i'd tried contraceptives and that they didn't agree with me; i.e., some gave me PMS 24/7/365 and that wasn't fair on those around me and that others gave me 3 periods a month, as in 3 full weeks of bleeding. So, she told me to try taking Tranexamic acid on 3-4 of my heaviest days. My heaviest days being at the beginning that was no problem.

So, time comes around. I started at work yesterday, around lunchtime. I estimate that because i was fine at 10am when i had my break, but when i finished at 2pm, the evidence was clear I'd started. So as soon as i got home, i began the dose as the doctor suggested, following the recommended dose of 1000mg 3 times a day, 2 doses were only taken yesterday because of when bleeding began. When i changed my tampon for the night, i did notice distinctly less blood on it already. But when i woke up this morning and through the course of today there has been no flow at all. It seems pointless to continue taking medication for something that is no longer there but i'm afraid if i do everything will just pour out.

It's after hours now and my doctors surgery is shut, not that it's easy to get an appointment there anyway. But i was just wondering if anyone at all could help. I apologise if i've been too graphic i just didn't know how else to explain it. Thank you for any help you can offer. x

Update:

Update at 8pm Thursday 4/4/13 and i've re-started, it's not much but it's menstruation all the same. Hopefully it'll be continuous rather than stop/start. But any advice or experience is still welcomed. x

hi, i used to take those pills as i had very heavy sessions at the same time as i changed into youthful. i took them for further or less 6 years and then my sessions stopped, i went to a private clinical institution as i felt my gp wasn't powerful and at the same time as the health care service heard i'd been on them for therefore long he suggested i end because it may influence my skill to have little ones. considering the fact that then i have got here across I really have polycystic ovaries and am now dealing with a clean set of issues...specifically because i haven't got sessions. i do not opt to scare you yet portion of me desires i'd post with the heavy sessions at the same time as i had them as i'd no longer be contained in the priority i at the moment am. talk on your health care service if you're in touch, i do not comprehend if there is even a link between tranexamic acid and the topic matters i now have, with somewhat of success your health care service will be extra powerful to you than mine changed into for me. best of success
