To put it simply;
Green band = a trailer that is suitable for anyone of any age to watch.
Red band trailer = a trailer that contains inappropriate scenes from the movie that are unsuitable for younger people to watch. For example, the red band trailer for the Evil Dead remake shows a scene with a person cutting their tongue in half, this wouldn't be appropriate for a certain age group to see.
