Do you agree that the term "illegal immigrant" should be changed to?
"undocumented democrat" as Jay Leno suggested. Leno, who himself is a liberal, was referring to the notion that democrats deep down view amnesty or the equivalent regardless of the details in any final legislation merely as a political mechanism to swell the voter rolls with presumed new supporters for their party.

That's an amusing bit of comedy that will make some people uncomfortable, but as we know, humor often derives its effectiveness by speaking uncomfortable truths. I have no sure way to know how the majority of illegal immigrants feel politically, but it is not far fetched to surmise that they would become registered Democrats if they view that party as the one best representative of their interests.

Voting registration is pretty far down the road for these people. No one is proposing giving them immediate citizenship. It is not a political suggestion to call them undocumented workers. Applying the terms "illegal alien" or even "illegal immigrant" to human beings is inappropriate. 'Illegal' is a term that applies to people's actions, not to the people themselves. This is particularly true of children who were brought here by their parents and have not committed any illegal act of their own volition.
Republicans are equally as interested as Democrats in immigration reform, despite Jay Leno's poor attempt at a joke. Agribusiness depends on a readily available source of cheap labor, as do the service industries. These are the two main types of jobs that cannot be performed overseas.

Disagree. The people who really love the illegal immigrants/undocumented workers are the Republicans, who like having a docile, relatively cheap workforce, who won't make a fuss if the job is dirty or dangerous. The problem with the terminology is that some of these people are here legally, they just can't work here legally (people who are here to be students or tourists). Leno was trying to make a joke, and failing.
A lot of the illegal workers/immigrants in my area (North Texas) are Hispanic, and don't really care for the Democratic party. Hispanics tend to be socially conservative, and opposed to abortion, same sex marriage, and a whole big pile of things that the Democrats advocate.

This explains why Leno is being pushed out by NBDNC.
