I have read that when Jigoro Kano created Judo?
He started to take techniques that he thought were not useful or that did not work. what kind of techniques could those have been? I have also read that he took out the deadly or dangerous techniques to make it more useful or more efficient.

It is not true that Dr. Kano removed any techniques that weren't useful or didn't work.
He only removed techniques that were deemed too dangerous for children to learn. It was his desire that martial arts be taught in PE classes at school. he was an educator. He could never get board approval for Jujutsu which he was trained in to be accepted in the school system. Therefore, he remove techniques that were more dangerous and those that were know to cause more injuries even if they were accidental. he did that until the board said yes we will allow you martial art to be taught in schools.
School will not allow instructors to teach student to kill or maim. That is what jujutsu was created to do. He accomplished his goal and that was to have Judo taught to children in schools. He wasn't trying to improve the art or make it more efficient. I forget what year but you can find that out if you research it. Judo began to be taught in every school in Japan after Jigoro's efforts.

both of those were wrong. This one clearly makes the best sense....
He did in fact remove some of the more deadly techniques. This was because they could not be practiced at their full potential in training for serious injury would occur even fatalities. By studying something, an art, a way, that could be flowing easier in practice could practitioners PERFECT TECHNIQUES. if you get a guy in a kimura, armbar or whatever...it's safer than breaking their fingers.
This still doesn't mean the two styles are better or worse, just different. I personally think Judo is an amazing fighting style which although can lead to bum knees from using it in the street, a smart practitioner can work around that and i think Judo is a smart man's fighting style, personally. :) thats my 2 cents

look its true because he knew judo would be so popular that it would even be taught in America so he didn't want white people to learn real Japanese martial arts so he took the deadly moves out and made judo, I know because I am a black belt.
