heart twitching / heart skips beats? please help!?

I'm a healthy 15 year old boy really healthy but I am taking 10 mg of cipralex (antidepressant for my anxiety disorder) and lately I've been having this weird twitch feeling that seems to be in my heart. Although it think its a twitch. Like a muscle spasm or like my heart skips a beat and it gives me a split second panic attack and then it goes away. Another way I can describe it is a really fast heart beat that last a second. Do I have a heart condition? Please help?! :(

Your heart palpitations are unlikely to be a result of taking your antidepressant. It is very likely that you do have an underlying heart condition. You should schedule an appointment with your cardiologist and discuss your symptoms and medications. As an adolescent, palpitations and mild "panic attacks" are a common result of adrenaline causing a sinus disarrhythmia which is a heart rhythm present in a lot of developing hearts. A lot of times teens "grow out" of the panic attacks as their hormones are brought back down to normal levels and there is less adrenaline going through your bloodstream. Best of luck to you, --J.C.--

Go to the doctor! Better to be safe then sorry...concerns with the heart should never be ignored
