Yorkie is shaking and panting occasionally 24+ hours after surgery?
I have a 3.11 pound active Yorkie. She had surgey on... the.. 5th of April, at, I want to say 8 or 9 AM. She had a hernia removed from her diaphragm area before it got bad, she had an extra tooth removed and also got spayed and groomed with teeth cleaning. She takes liquid Amoxicillin every twelve hours through a syringe, .8 cc, and also .09 cc of Metacam every 24 hours. I looked up the Metacam and it said side effects could include dizziness, and a little earlier while she was standing on my leg she kind of tipped over sideways. She could be dizzy and it's making her nervous but I just kind of want to make sure it's nothing else. She'll drink water through a syringe and eat NutriCal but I have yet to see her use the bathroom. She's been acting alright all day, sleeping which is good, and drinking, it's just been the past hour and a half.
It's currently 10:55 PM, and any help at all is appreciated.
She ate some soft food a couple times today, I forgot to mention.
I also can't take her to the vet as it's a Saturday night and my parents refuse to call the surgeon that gave us his number on case since it's late on a weekend.

It's somewhat normal for a dog to feel rather unsteady, anxious, and 'out of it' for a day or so after surgery.
Last time one of my dogs was put under for a surgical procedure, he was quite shaky and rather panicky for several hours after being released. But it had been over 24 hours since he'd eaten, and was not given water during the time he was at the clinic, so he was very thirsty. More than anything, he just seemed a little freaked out by the whole situation.
You absolutely CAN (and probably should) call the vet who performed the surgery. The phone call is free, and the surgeon can, if nothing else, reassure you that the dog is probably just suffering from after-effects of the anesthesia, NOT a reaction to the medication and NOT having an emergency which needs to be seen immediately.
Meantime, make sure the dog stays hydrated and as calm as possible. With such a tiny dog, dehydration is a real danger, as is blood sugar imbalance. If you can get the dog to drink some Pedialyte, that might be a good idea.

Panting and shaking are usually signs that the dog is in pain. Keep an eye on her, if she gets worse or if you're really concerned-do call the vet, I'm sure they would want to know if anything is wrong or would be happy to give you advice/answer any questions or concerns you have.

poor thing, I had a yorkie....yes, take her to a vet... Sounds like it could be Accidentally eating or licking something that made her sick. Ours once got a old dryer sheet that fell under the couch and it made her sick Shes probably unbalanced becuase she is just not feeling well or have some sort of inner ear thing going on. Hope she feels better.

I'm no expert, but my Shiba Inu panted quite a bit even after she was spayed. I believe her Vet said it is just a way of her trying to calm herself down. I'm guessing she's just nervous.

Dogs also shake when they are in pain. This happened to my dog when he hurt his back, he shook for about 24 hours before we got him some pain meds so he stopped and never did it again when it healed

How old is she? If she is an older dog I would be kind of worried about it. Monday call your vet

She could be cold, but I would get her into the vet. Shaking comes from cold, pain, nervousness, low sugar and seizures.
