images on my laptop are turning blue with black lines?

recently my hp laptop is having issues with the screen. Black images or any black for that matter has blue lines going from top to bottom on the images only. It looks like it might be other colors too. Does anyone know how to fix it. This laptop is old, about 4 years. There are some heat issues. thank you for any advice

    "There are some heat issues"

Well that pretty much says it all. HP's are known to have problems with their graphics chip needing to be reflowed and if this laptop has been overheating, then I suspect that that is the problem.

If you want to spend about $120 on your laptop, find a small local repair shop that will fix that problem and give you a 90 day or so warranty and if they can't fix the problem, no charge...

at the same time they have the motherboard removed from the laptop, they can remove the dust bunnies from the heatsink and reapply thermal grease to the cpu Do mention that you have been having problems with heat.

Do not take your laptop to one of the 'big-box' stores.

    Hope this helps.
