Is my vision prescription going to be too strong?
I am getting progressive lenses. Normally if I buy reading glasses off the shelf it seems like even +1.25 is too powerful for me. This prescription says reading distance is +1.75. Is this because they are progressive lenses so that's the max at the bottom or do you think it will be too strong?
I also noticed the computer glasses prescription was +1.50 and that seems strong, because I think the ones I have now are +1.25.

The actual power of the bifocal in prescription eyewear is dependent on the Sphere of the Rx. (First number of the Rx). Example:
Rx: -.50 -.50 x 124 (with an add (bifocal power) of +1.75)
The Actual power of the bifocal would be (+1.75) + (-.50) = +1.25
So, the actual power of the bifocal in relation to your prescription is a +1.25

Don't try to figure out why what seems like a stronger prescription will work better than a weaker one....Instead, remember that before the Optometrist fitted for this prescript. they tested you for your vision on those extensive eye machines and you acknowledge each and every step so they will be fine...But I'm guessing that you need the stronger number because of the fit of the glasses from your face and the progressive lens as you thought. In any case, you'll be fine and you'll enjoy the progressive lenses much much more than bifocals

There is a big difference in the over the counter and prescription prescriptions. The reason is with a dr he can say which axis of the eye has the problem and to what degree. Over the counter has to assume your entire eye has a problem as everyone's different I'm an 8.75 or at least I was before Lasiks and there are no over the counter #s that high
