Springfield XDs .45 Vs. XD .40 sub-compact?
I'm looking into getting my first hand gun for a CC. Its between the
Springfield Armory 40S&W Sub Compact XD with 3" Barrel, or the DX-S Compact 45ACP.
I don't mind the extra kick from the .45 and the XDS45 is actually smaller/more thin than the XD40. Bigger round in a smaller gun, I really like that. But the XD40 has 12 round double stack mag where as the XD45 has a 6 round single stack.
I just don't know.
Opinions, preferences, comments, ideas?
Thanks!

At the range where a CC is even practical, the extra ammo in the .40 is going to be a lot more beneficial than the marginally higher power of the .45... either way, shot placement is going to matter a lot more, and the softer kick of the .40 is going to allow you to put more shots on target, and faster.

I carried a Glock 27 for three years on the job. It used to be a department gun so i didn't get to hold it after I retired, but I do have a Glock 23 that i love quite a bit and have owned for almost two decades. I've regarded getting a Glock 27 as it's so much simpler to conceal than the 23 and it's also 100% risk-free. I have regarded at the XDS and i particularly do not just like the outside defense.. Having been in a couple of gunfights in my 29 years in legislation enforcement and going for walks a SWAT/Tactical unit my expertise is that the less complicated a weapon is to deliver into action, the simpler. In the case of one of the contributors who indicated he carried his gun and not using a cartridge in the chamber, i hope he never has the occasion to wish it as the prolong brought about by using having to chamber a round is also fatal. Additionally, while there some methods that can be completed one exceeded and they're a ways from convenient, it willl often require each fingers to chanber a round. Verify into what happened to one of the vital FBI sellers within the FBI shootout in Miami-Dade County as it illustrates what happens in case you have been shot and cannot use both fingers to safeguard yourself and/or load your weapon.
