What Stars are solid?

Pretend that I have superpowers and cannot die and I am super strong. What kind of stars could I walk on?

Even though matter is being compressed very hard by gravity, I think the Sun's surface is not solid. If I went on the sun I might fall in or float on the plasma. What about neutron stars or white dwarfs?

There is one type of star you could walk on assuming super powers -- the diamond core remnant of a white dwarf.

There is a particular kind of white dwarf that is part of a binary system wherein the larger star has stripped away the gas from its companion. What is left is the supercompact core made of pure carbon -- a diamond the size of Jupiter.

Neutron stars are a single huge atomic nucleus. So as long as your superpowers prevented you from getting incorporated into it, you could walk on it.

Other dwarf stars that have suffered heat death would freeze, but the universe isn't old enough for that yet.

  • Stars are made up of gasses, never any solid surface. Therefore even with "superpowers" you could not walk on a star.
