Why does MgCI2 have 3 ions? Test tomorrow need help.?

I would think that MgCI2 has 4 ions:

2Mg ions 2CI ions making a total of 4 ions

Another question: How many mililiters of .750 M H3PO4 are required to react with 250.mL of .150M Ba (OH)2 if the products are barium phosphate and water?

Please explain all your answer as easily as possible for role who are not good t chemistry and please explain in the same manner why y reasoning is flawed fr my first quesyion

    Why do you think MgCl2 makes two Mg ions? There is one atom of Mg in MgCl2 and it produces one Mg ion.

    MgCl2 → Mg{2+} + 2 Cl{-}

    So there are 1 + 2 = 3 ions total.

    2 H3PO4 + 3 Ba(OH)2 → Ba3(PO4)2 + 6 H2O

    (250 mL) x (0.150 M Ba(OH)2) x (2 mol H3PO4 / 3 mol Ba(OH)2) /

    (0.750 M H3PO4) = 33.3 mL H3PO4
